Weight Loss – Consistency is the Best Policy

weight-lossAs a rule of thumb, the best results from our efforts come from our faithfulness. Regularity and dogged discipline will get you anywhere in life. The same is true when you’re aiming for a healthy and leaner body.

Let’s imagine a scenario. Supposing Karl, a quirky and obese computer programmer, has started out his health regimen by battling it out at the local oval field everyday. He decides that every exercise session should last for about 30 minutes. Getting tired at the monotony, he cuts his schedule by more than half, opting to spend 3 hours of intense workout on Mondays and Fridays only. Thinking that an intense routine is sure to pay more dividends than spending little amounts of exercise time everyday, he soon gets 10 lbs. worth of weight loss results — only after two months.

After a brief period of zealous commitment to health, he soon goes back to his video game fixation and watching season compilations of Grey’s Anatomy for days at a time. His energy dwindles and Karl’s tummy grows back again as he continually forgets his weekly exercise routines.

Greg, on the other hand, was totally determined to lose that flab. Starting at the same time Karl was hitting the oval, he also spent 30 minutes everyday, running and engaging in fitness boxing. There were times when he really wanted to slack off, yet he dragged himself each and every time the laziness crept in. As a measure to fight the lethargy, he attended workout sessions with his health-crazy buddies whenever he could. In a month’s time, his weight dropped 25 lbs., much to his relief.

Health science has shown that spending generous amount of time exercising at a consistent pace is the fastest way to trim down and getting that lean body. Instead of an extremely vigorous workout once a week, why don’t you try a sustained period of exercise, like spending 15-30 minutes everyday running or jogging?
