This is what people feel on the legal issues regarding Mephedrone. They have a concern about the low amount of information about this drug and on its risks or side effects. There hasn’t been any long term research on the drug and the main reason for this is because it has been around for eighteen months only even though scientists knew about it for a little less than 10 years. The main reason for the low amount of information on the drug is because of the speed at which it has become so famous as a recreational drug and this has surprised the health authorities quite a bit.
Since the government has not been able to understand the long term effects of this drug, the ACMD (Advisory Council on Misuse of Drugs) has been brought into the picture in order to determine the legal high’s that are linked with Mephedrone and similar other drugs. Now, lets look at the main reason why the ban by the ACMD is going to take atleast six to twelve months. The sacking of a professor and the former chairman of the committee, David Mutt, from the home office has delayed the report presentation which was supposed to be in March.
